Common Sense UK Recently I received an email addressing me as 'professor'.I was so flattered I smiled to myself for a week. This was due to a misunderstanding ---I had been invited to present a practical paper on microbusinesses at an international conference and was mistaken for an academic.I nonetheless felt very pleased.
If someone as cynical as I am could be so easily pleased,I wonder why we don't do this sort of thing more often. I think because I don't like the Polyanna feel of actually even thinking such a facile thought - and there's always the danger of being hypocritical.
